Government College
of Engineering Nagpur, was started in 2016 with 5 UG Engineering Programmes and one PG in M.
Tech. Infrastructure Engineering & Technology under the administrative control of
Higher and Technical Education Department, Govt. of Maharashtra. The Institute
is affiliated to RTM Nagpur University Nagpur. Within a short span of time,
GCOEN has established its own identity not only in the Vidarbha region but also
in the Maharashtra State. The institute is spread in Green Campus of 11.87 acre
in New Khapari, MIHAN, Nagpur. Every department had allocated space in Main
building and Annex Building. The boys and girls hostel of 200 and 100 capacity
respectively is placed in campus itself. The state of art Gymnasium is
also available to students. A play ground on 4 acre land area is available to
play various outdoor games.
The students of
high calibre are the backbones of the Institute. The Institute strives to
impart quality technical education to the students who have always proved their
excellence in University and other competitive Examinations. Although academics
are the top priority, the students are motivated to participate in
co-curricular and extracurricular activities. A conducive environment and
opportunities are made available to the students so that the focus is always on
their 360 degree development. Many students have brought laurels to
the Institute in various activities. Many students are perusing higher studies
in NITs, IITs, IIMs, renowned Government institutes and outside the country
viz. USA, Canada.
The institute is
NAAC accredited from 21/3/2024 to 20/3/2029 with B++ & 2.93 CGPA. The Civil Engineering
Department was accredited by NBA from 2023-24 to 2025-26. The institute had
started first PG program, M. Tech. in Infrastructural Engineering &
Technology in Civil Engineering Department from 2023-24 which is affiliated to
RTM Nagpur University, Nagpur. Government of Maharashtra has granted a Centre
of Excellence in “Renewable Energy Utilization and Conservation of Energy” to
the Institute. A grant of Rs. 5.0 Crore is sanctioned for its establishment.
The annual
program such as ADHYAAYA, ORANZ & SFOORTI are conducted for the overall
development of students regularly. The Institute has started various clubs
which mainly include Innovation, Robotics, Drone, Astronomy, Automobile, Music,
Nature etc. In 2020-21, based on the research and innovation activities
conducted by the Institute, National Innovation Council has awarded 4.5 stars
out of 5 to the Innovation Cell of the Institute. The Institute is also
extending services to society through transfer of technology under “Unnat Bharat
Abhiyan (UBA)”. UBA cell of Institute is also awarded a National award of Rs.
1.75 Lakh
The placement of
the students reached near to 70% which includes a highest package of Rs. 44.0
Lakh as offered to one of the final year students. Institute had signed MoUs
with various nearby Industries and few academic Institutes as well. Dedicated
faculty of the Institute, with high quality research background has always been
the strength of the Institute. The faculty published paper and patents
regularly. Under the guidance and support from Directorate of Technical
Education, Mumbai, this Institute is comfortable to keep the pace of progress.
